TALES 'N' TREATS
I, Amrita Ganeriwalla, began Tales 'n' Treats, to achieve a single goal: to do my part in broadening the horizons of children and making the world a better place for all. I not only strive to help our children learn important life skills but also have a ton of activities building on general knowledge and encouraging exposure to different avenues.
KHOJ x TNT
Khoj Community School is an initiative by Apni Shala Foundation. Tales 'N' Treats partnered with Khoj school to conduct online workshops to promote holistic development. I conducted these workshops every week for a year for grades 1-4 in the school. We had over 30 sessions in the course of the year and I interacted with around 40 students. Review ->

Tales 'N' Treats online
After the pandemic hit, all schools shut and I could not continue setting up libraries. So, I improvised and began an online reading club for underprivileged kids in my neighbourhood, with Divya's help. While interacting with the kids, I realised the need for holistic development and so, I redesigned my workshop to serve as a 'window to the world' for the children. Soon, I had students across the state join my workshop! We do a variety of things in our classes like reading, exploring cities and cultures, cooking, coding, general knowledge building and lots more! The online sessions began in 2020!

SNEHASADAN
Snehasadan is an orphanage in Mumbai. I set-up a book and toy library for one of their homes before the pandemic hit. The reason for setting up a book and toy library was because I realised that the kids had limited reading habits. I thought if I capitalised, on that, they would be surrounded by books the entire time while playing and would eventually pick up a book and read. The boys there were of all ages, ranging from 3 to 19! Each of them was dealing with their own personal issues - some had run away from home or were orphaned or abandoned.

DIVYA JADHAV - where it all started.
Divya was my first student. I began tutoring her in the 7th grade and continued for a couple of years. When she told me her school does not have a library, I was shocked. On further probing, I learnt that such children were becoming increasingly disinterested in reading books, which greatly disturbed me. Their parents struggled to produce meals on the table daily and story books were the least of their concerns. As someone who grew up reading books, this saddened me. I felt strongly that all children should have access to story books, and wanted to nurture the habit of reading. This led me to think of my library initiative- to help set up libraries.
